Any address in North America will be standardized to Post Office guidelines, the Zip Code or Postal Code will be validated, corrected or supplied if missing and in the case of US records, the Zip+4 added. Street name spellings will be corrected, street types and directionals will be modified or inserted as required and city or community names checked for accuracy.

Each address is returned with a status code that indicates if the address was validated and this provides you with an opportunity to have the user "double-check" suspect information before storing it in your database. For companies that may use a mailing address in a Direct Marketing program the savings can be enormous. For those shipping products through the mail, a bad address can triple your handling costs as you end up paying for the initial mailing, the return postage and finally the postage and handling costs to remail to the correct address. In the worst case, your package may be misdelivered or lost entirely. A simple call to the PostMaster service could avoid this entirely.

Duplicate Elimination - Merge Purge
We write our own software for this process and have refined our processes in this area because one of the most important tasks in preparing campaign data is merge purging the data. Intelligent Case Conversion
Have you ever noticed how users on the Internet never use the Shift Key on their keyboard or type everything in upper case? Dynamic Salutations
Talking to customers and prospects on the Internet has never been easier and personalizing the content you deliver is becoming more important. But talk to them the wrong way and you can do more harm than good. When names are supplied to us we dynamically construct a "Salutation" field that can be used in personalized communications. After all, when a user enters "George W." in the First-Name field of your web form, you want to say "Thanks George" after they press the Submit button. But if the user just entered his or her initials, we think you'll agree that "Thanks Mr. Bush" looks much better than "Thanks G. W."

National Change of Address (NCOA)
For Canadian mailing records we can optionally check the name and address against our database of over ten million records of individuals and companies who have moved in the last three years. If you currently have a database that includes names more than six months old we can provide the new address providing the Post Office was notified of the change. Names are tracked across multiple moves and the new address is coded to indicate if it is for only the individual supplied, the entire family or if this was a corporate move.

Now any internal application can have access to mover information providing you can demonstrate that you are in posession of the old mailing address. This service is of huge benefit to insurance companies, associations, financial institutions, charities and many other types of company who wish to keep their lists up to date.

National Change of Address (NCOA)

DNCL - Do Not Call List

The National Do Not Call List has millions of registrants. If your list requires comparison to the list of those who do not wish to be contacted, we have the solution. Simply send us your address and phone list file and we will return it with the DNCL registered phone numbers indicated. If you are performing any telemarketing, you are advised to reference the DNCL official website https://www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca/index-eng to see how the legislation affects you. At the very least every organization should be building an opt-out list in-house so that you don't telemarket to your constituents who prefer to be left alone. In some cases, it may be the law that you build such a list.

Identification of Suspect Data
One of the biggest problems with web-based forms is the number of people who supply bogus information in one or more of the input fields. Many users protect their annonymity by typing nonsense or vulgar language to defeat your error-checking routines but without a way to segregate bad data from the good, your entire database becomes suspect.

PostMaster checks each field against a dictionary of offensive words and analyses the input for repetative sequences or random strings. Frequency analysis then determines the probability that the user has entered bogus input and flags the return data accordingly. You can then choose to re-serve the form to your user asking them to check their input or segregate the information for manual confirmation before sending expensive literature to non-existant addresses or individuals.

While we cannot catch all bad input in this way we can significantly improve the integrity of the data you are storing in your databases.

Latitude and Longitude Information
For every mailing address supplied to PostMaster, we return the Latitude and Longitude which can enable you to determine proximity of the record to a specific location using a simple mathematical formula. If we are supplied with the Zip Code or Postal Code of a target location we will even tell you the distance between the two points.
